Mom's Biscuits

2 C. flour

4 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp cream of tartar

2 T sugar

Mix together. Cut into flour mixture 1/2 C. shortening. Stir with fork 2/3 C. milk. Knead 8 times. Roll out on floured board, cut 1/2 thick with round cutter. Bake at 400 for 10 minutes.
